Why voting matters?
Hey guys!
I never thought I’d share my thoughts on this election because, let’s be honest, politics can be intimidating. It’s easy to worry that your words might be used against you if others disagree. But that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. I’m seeing more excitement and unity than division, and I believe this election is too important to stay silent about.
That’s why I wanted to discuss voting and why it matters in every election, especially in this one.
The Power of Voting:
Voting is your voice in choosing the leader you believe in. It’s your power to elect leaders who represent your values and to speak up about the issues that matter most to you.
Since America’s founding and our independence from Great Britain on July 4th, 1776, we’ve upheld the values of liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. Voting is a continuation of those values, a way to fight for our families, friends, and communities. It’s how we address crucial issues like climate change, women’s rights, disability rights, racial justice, and economic rights by selecting leaders we trust and believe in. Even when it feels like the government isn’t listening, voting is our way to push for the change we want to see.
Throughout history, our ancestors fought and sacrificed to ensure everyone has a chance at the American dream, regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin. They taught us to stand up for our rights and to treat everyone with respect and dignity. Now, it’s our turn to carry that torch and continue the fight.
Every four years, we have the opportunity to choose our next commander-in-chief—a leader who will carry forward the story of America and the dream it represents. It’s our choice to ensure that democracy thrives, as our founders intended, and to make this country a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming place for all. By voting for leaders who hold our crucial values at heart, we can uplift, unite, and embrace the future together. We have the power to help each other achieve success and greatness, and future generations will thank us for electing leaders who lead with pride and love for our country.
As John Lewis tweeted in 2016, “The right to vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool or instrument in a democratic society. We must use it.”
