What should we do now? Reflect. Think. And Celebrate the Achievements across the country!
Hey guys,
As we prepare for the holiday season, it’s important to take a step back and cherish time with our loved ones.
This month has brought a mix of emotions for many of us. While some are celebrating, others are feeling anxious and uncertain about what lies ahead. I find myself in the minority group—worried about the challenges that may come with this new chapter. However, I deeply respect America’s choice for president and value the voices that shaped it.
Even in times of uncertainty, I remain committed to standing up for myself, my family, my friends, and the millions of Americans who feel unheard. Their voices matter, too. It’s not easy for everyone to embrace the idea of Donald Trump as our upcoming president, but together, we can find a way forward.
As Bob Marley once sang, “Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing is gonna be alright.” It might take some adjustments and time, but we’ll find our way forward.
On a more hopeful note, this election season has given us many reasons to celebrate, particularly here in New Jersey, where we’ve witnessed historic victories for Democrats in both the House and Senate:
Andy Kim, now the first Korean American senator, has been a steadfast champion for working families, veterans, and a stronger economy. His leadership in Congress, especially on healthcare and national security, has prepared him to amplify the voices of all New Jerseyans. He’s also an advocate for disability rights, making home healthcare services more accessible for seniors and people with disabilities.
Bonnie Watson Coleman, re-elected to represent New Jersey’s 12th District, continues to break barriers as the first Black woman elected to Congress from the state. Her passion for racial justice, affordable healthcare, and creating opportunities for young people demonstrates her dedication to equity and progress.
Mikie Sherrill, who represents New Jersey’s 11th District, prioritizes and values pragmatic solutions based on her experience as a Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor. She has been instrumental in efforts to lower family costs, protect Social Security, and boost economic growth in New Jersey.
Beyond New Jersey, we’ve also seen inspiring milestones nationwide:
Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender senator in the U.S. of Delaware, made history as she won a Representative seat in Delaware. Her commitment to expanding healthcare access, improving mental health resources, and fostering media literacy education in schools shows her deep dedication to families, workers, and equality.
Angela Alsobrooks, Maryland’s newest senator, brings her extensive public service experience to the national stage. Her focus on criminal justice reform, healthcare, and economic development ensures she will continue to drive meaningful change.
These victories demonstrate that progress is possible, even when faced with challenges.
As the year winds down and the holidays approach, let’s take time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and the work that still lies ahead. The fight for equity, justice, and a brighter future doesn’t end here. Together, we can continue amplifying unheard voices, advocate for those in need, and celebrate the milestones that bring us closer to a more inclusive and hopeful society.
Progress may not always come easily, but it’s worth striving for—because when we come together, we are capable of amazing things! We can do anything!
Stay hopeful!
